What do you get when everyone except for a few nuns is seasick on a “Faiths of All Nations” cruise and the show must still go on? Well, if that show is Fiddler on the Roof, you get Meshuggah-Nuns. The quirky musical is the brainchild of Dan Goggin, creator of the hit show Nunsense. His Catholic school upbringing, full of hilarious and habited instructors, inspired the nun series, but a South Florida producer was the one who told him he needed to add a Jew to keep everyone down here laughing. He took the advice and created a comedic marriage of crowd-pleasing Jewish and Catholic humor. This is the first time the nuns will sings songs such as “Say It in Yiddish” or “Matzo Man” in Dade County. Even if you’ve never seen the Nunsense series, you’ll get the jokes. Meshuggah-Nuns opens this Wednesday.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: April 27. Continues through May 8, 2011
