According to the great and powerful Wikipedia, the definition of a sneakerhead is a person who collects, trades, or admires sneakers as a hobby. This sneaker-obsessed race dominates the Miami-Dade footwear scene. So it’s only fitting that the footwear fete Sole Swappin’ has landed, catering to sneakerheads near and far. (Yes, Homestead is considered far.)
The traveling sneaker convention kicks off Saturday at noon in the Fieldhouse at BankUnited Center (1245 Dauer Dr., Coral Gables). Sneak freaks can witness, with their own two eyes, legendary kicks like the Air Jordan 8, the last shoe Michael Jordan wore before his retirement. Attendees can also shop local shoe brands, sheeting the premises with only the top of their collections.
If you’re really a true sneaker reveler, all it takes is $30.65 to run rampant in a field of rubbery soles waiting for you to be their master.
