It’s become a matter of sadistic pride. Any true fan of Miami Heat superstar LeBron James looks forward to his encounters with his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Maybe its leftover schadenfreude from watching dejected Cavs fans burning James’s jersey the night of “The Decision.” Maybe it’s ire toward Cavs owner Dan Gilbert after his public “break-up” letter. Or maybe it’s acrimony from reading Cleveland native Scott Raab’s countless Esquire articles in which he insists on calling our hero LeBron “the Whore of Akron.” That all might sound like sour grapes from a team with a losing record, but the Cavs aren’t exactly the NBA’s doormat. Young point guard Kyrie Irving is showing why he deserved to be the first overall pick in the 2011 draft. Along with team mainstay Anderson Varejão and rookie sensation Dion Waiters, the youthful Cavs have a lot of kick in their fight. But who are we kidding? Saturday’s game should be a shellacking.
