As with Playboy, we know you pick up Miami New Times for the pictures. From inside the little red stands, the covers grab you by the eyeballs week after week. Remember Jesus with the ball gag in his mouth? Happy birthday, Fidel? Natacha Seijas, Wicked-style? This Saturday is your chance to revisit our best work at Miami Art Space when we host “Twenty-Two Years of Art,” an exhibition of covers from… well, the past 22 years. Of course, admission is free, the bar will be open from 7 to 10 p.m., and Mr. Brown and Ivan Diaz will be on the tables. You know us; we always just give it up.
But don’t stop there. After all, it’s Second Saturdays in Wynwood and Art + Design Night in the District, where Diaspora Vibe Gallery (3938 N. Miami Ave., Miami) will host a meet-and-greet with artist Aimee Lee, whose work is being exhibited as part of the gallery’s Caribbean Crossroads Series. Call 305-573-4046 or visit diasporavibe.net. Or check out Richard Höglund’s drawings in a new exhibition called “Fieldwork” at Gallery Diet (174 NW 23rd St., Miami). Call 305-571-2288 or visit gallerydiet.com.
Sat., Oct. 10, 7 p.m., 2009
