Besides Coolio and probably the Amish after listening to “Amish Paradise,” who doesn’t love a good Weird Al Yankovic parody? Terrorists, that’s who. We have it on good authority that one of the reasons for America’s invasion of Iraq was Middle Easterners’ hatred of Weird Al’s timeless parodies such as “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Fat,” and “Another One Rides the Bus.” The Bush administration knew the outrage those ditties would cause among Iraqis, so it made up some benign reason like weapons of mass destruction. It’s politics. You know how it is.
But now, the legendary Weird Al is coming to South Florida with his Alpocalypse Tour to protect our freedoms and probably piss off Coolio again. Expect to hear Yankovic’s new Lady Gaga parody, “Perform This Way,” and his riff on a Miley Cyrus track with “Party in the CIA.”
