Fun and sun draw many national events to Miami, but none quite like this one. This Wednesday marks the beginning of the tenth annual Aqua Girl, the nation’s largest nonprofit lesbian festival (not the DC Comics superheroine). This year’s weeklong extravaganza will feature a litany of ladies-only events: dance parties, comedy routines, live music, fashion shows, and poolside movies. On Thursday, head to a no-cover cocktail party at the Surfcomber Resort, and afterward, dance it up at Score, where you can tell which gal is taken and which is single by the color of her glow necklace. On Sunday, gay gentlemen friends are invited to a coed party where go-go boys and girls gyrate while drag queens sashay. In your face, Anita Bryant! For members of the Sapphic set, don’t miss out on this love fest of the year. All proceeds benefit the Aqua Foundation for Women, which awards grants and scholarships to women active in the LBGT community. Weekend passes start at $109, or you can pay for individual events.
