Local actor Mark Della Ventura’s year of firsts continues. A few months after premiering his debut solo play, Small Membership — a comic, confessional run through 20-some years of love and loss and coming up short — Della Ventura is back at his home base of Alliance Theatre Lab (6766 Main St., Miami Lakes) to oversee his first multicharacter play, Roomies. Though the play centers around a fictional playwright (played by Della Ventura) commissioned to write a full-length piece, it’s not 100 percent autobiographical like Small Membership. It’s about the relationship between five young theater professionals who cohabitate in raunchy, coed harmony as they deal with charting their careers, reaching sexual milestones, and solving ethical quagmires. Early reviews have praised the play’s witty naturalism, which is appropriate: Della Ventura based his aspiring-actor characters on real friends, most of whom graduated from New World School of the Arts. You can still catch the show in its final weekend, at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Fri., Nov. 23, 8 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 24, 8 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 25, 2 p.m., 2012
