Anthony Bourdain is one busy guy.
In addition to closing out his run on No Reservations, he’s got an additional season of The Layover in the can, is writing for HBO’s Treme, and preparing for his new gig at CNN. That would be way too much for the average man, but let’s never forget that Tony Bourdain is a superhero.
So, to fill up his days, he’s come up with one more television venture, The Mind of a Chef, which airs on PBS on November 9, is part travel show, part cooking show. It’s produced by Zero Point Zero Productions (the same people behind Bourdain’s award-winning Travel Channel shows).
Sounds a hell of a lot like No Reservations — only this time, The Mind of a Chef stars

David Chang in the role of “man who eats his way around the world and
talks about it” — at least for season one. If you’re missing a little
Bourdain action, take comfort in the fact that he will be narrating the
episodes and serves as executive producer.
And, if you’re missing
that trademark Bourdain cockiness, it seems to be coming along for the
ride. According to Zero Point Zero, The Mind of a Chef is
“simultaneously reverential, cocky, daring and inquisitive; never
pandering, always informative and entertaining”, using dynamic stories,
lush “food porn”, animation and artwork”.
Chang is chef/founder
of Momofuku Restaurant Group and the brainchild behind the Lucky Peach
food journal. He’s also pretty much just as funny, snarky, and nasty as
Bourdain.
Obviously we’ll watch — even if we think it sounds just a wee bit douchy….here’s a preview so you can decide for yourself.
