December proved to be an active final month of the year. There was the re-opening of the splashy, remodeled Rusty Pelican; the re-opening of Pearl Restaurant & Champagne Lounge; the re-opening Philippe by Philippe Chow in a new SoFi location; the second Sakaya Kitchen venue downtown, and the second 100 Montaditos shop in SoBe. Throw in a MexZican joint, another boutique burger joint, a salumeria, an Irish pub, and a couple of local places like Lokal and we’re on a roll going into 2012.

Only notable closing is that of Miami’s pride and joy — Naoe — but this is just a temporary hiatus while Kevin Cory moves his gem to Brickell Key. Now that’s something to look forward to in the new year.
