As glamorous as South Beach tries to be, there is still plenty of grunge to be found, especially in the kitchens and food prep stations of local restaurants. There is some leeway to be had, because one’s home kitchen is complete sterile either, but you still expect some common sense like employees washing their hands before they touch food.

WPLG’s on-going Dirty Dining series has been going after local restaurants and investigating how clean are the places we eat at. Some violations are to be expected, but some are just horrendous. Reporter Jeff Weinsier recently went through various Lincoln Road establishments on his Dirty Dining blog and noted their recent violations. We really wish we hadn’t read it, opting instead for the “ignorance is bliss” motto. But we have one question: Why is no one cleaning their can openers?
