When Top Chef hottie Fabio Viviani was in town for the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, he mentioned that he was opening a restaurant in Miami.
Now, Chicago Business is reporting that Viviani and partners DineAmic Group of Chicago are bringing Siena Tavern to South Beach, with plans to open as early as this summer.
Siena Tavern came about when the Top Chef heartthrob met Dineamic principal/founders Lucas Stoioff and David Rekhson at their Public House restaurant in Chicago. Viviani agreed to work on a restaurant concept with them only if they traveled with him to Italy for a two week tour of eating Italian with “no maps, no plans.”

Siena Tavern is not a traditional “Italian restaurant.” Rather, it takes influences from Italian, Mediterranean, and American culinary styles in its menu.
That’s not to say that there aren’t ultra traditional Italian staples. Lasagna, gnocchi, and pastas are made from Viviani’s family recipes passed down over generations.
While you’re busy salivating, watch this video that tells the tale of Siena Tavern.
