In the winter, most of America’s tomatoes come from Florida, especially the fields of Immokalee, close to Naples, in Collier County, just west of Dade.
Unfortunately, the tradition of agricultural slavery has a history here that continues to the present day.
Florida’s Modern Day Slavery Museum, a box truck like the one that some workers were recently forced to live in for two years, aims to educate the public on modern day slavery and how it affects our daily lives through food.
