If you like a little hog with your pork taco, head to Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South at 19825 S. Dixie Hwy. in Cutler Bay for the Thursday Food Truck Roundup. This southernmost rolling comestible bonanza was organized at the urging of Peterson’s customers, who noted that food trucks had taken over Miami and West Kendall but had not yet invaded el sur. “Our customers are a lot like family, and they were saying that we have enough room and that we should invite the trucks. We keep our showroom open so people can check out the bikes and take pictures with them. This is really a family event,” says Brenda Bastos, event manager for Peterson’s.
Scheduled to serve grub are Red Truck, Sugar Rush, MexZican, Grill Master, The Fish Box, Esther’s Caribbean Grill, Dim Ssam A Go Go, Churro Mania, Wing Commander, and newcomer Muscle Truck, which features individual pizzas.
In addition to the Food Roundup, every third Thursday of the month Peterson’s holds Bike Night, in which bikers and their families can mingle, eat and shop for more Harley t-shirts. The next Bike Night falls on March 17th, which happens to be St. Patty’s Day.
The county’s been cracking down on food trucks lately. Will authorities quash this Harley-meets-Food Truck party? We think not. “We haven’t had any issues. We have all the certificates of insurance from all the trucks and a lot of cooperation from the police”, said Bastos. Hmmm…maybe riding a Harley is the key to food truck harmony.
