Peruse any one of those wacky “holiday” calendars on the internet and you’re bound to find some pretty weird stuff to celebrate.

For instance, did you know that April 23 is “Talk like Shakespeare” day or that May 16 is “National Sea Monkey” day? Now you do.

For every holiday that we plan on skipping (we’ll take a pass on celebrating “National Rat-Catcher’s Day” on July 22, thank you very much), there’s one that we embrace — like “National Grilled Cheese Day” (which happens to be today).

$30,000

To celebrate this momentous holiday, the Daily Melt in Midtown Miami is giving away free grilled cheese sandwiches to the first 100 people who show up when the shop opens at 11 a.m. Be one of the top 100, and you’ll get a lunch combo for free (one to a customer). That’s a grilled cheese sandwich, soup shot or chips, and a soda from the Coke Freestyle machine for free!

Or, head over to Coconut Grove from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and bring a friend because Ms. Cheezious is offering twofers on their melts for this special day. They’ll be in the Coconut Grove bank parking lot, between Mary Street and Tigertail Avenue.

To make the day extra special, we hear the Ben & Jerry’s truck will be handing out free Greek frozen yogurt for dessert.

It’s a happy Friday for both you and your wallet.
