With the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) right around the corner, our collective mouths are officially watering for Lee Brian Schrager’s inaugural Culinary Cinema, where we’ll get to indulge in three flicks hand-picked for foodie film buffs.

And to make sure the audience is happy and well fed, MIFF is hosting a Franco-Brazilian brunch at Juvia on Sunday, March 3, in keeping with the theme of the series’ first flick, Why Did You Leave?, the story of a group of French chefs who relocate to Brazil.

Lee Schrager on 2013’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival: Hip and Hot, Part One

Juvia’s executive chef Laurent Cantineau will host chefs Erick Jacquin of La Brasserie, São Paulo and Frédéric Monnier and Laurent Suaudeau of Escola Da Arte Culinaria, São Paulo, in preparing a lineup of their signature dishes. The brunch will be served on Juvia’s picturesque patio, overlooking South Beach.

Following the eats, diners will get to catch the North American premiere of Eric Belhassem’s Why Did You Leave? at the Regal Cinemas South Beach.

Jacquin and Suaudeau are featured in the film, which follows a group of acclaimed French chefs who choose to leave home and rebuild their lives in Brazil, leading to a mash-up of culinary styles along the lines of the Juvia brunch menu. How very synchronous.
