La Moon last week quietly opened a second outpost on 20th Street across from the University of Miami’s Life Sciences Park, which means Wynwood, Overtown, and the surrounding areas can now have arepas, Supermoon perros, and salchipapas on demand.
In one fell swoop, this humble, much-loved Colombian joint seems to have done more for Miami’s poor neighborhoods than the City of Miami has done in the past two decades.

La Moon’s new delivery/takeaway-only spot opened in the space most recently occupied by Soi Chinese Bistro. The menu is limited to only the fast-food portion of the main menu found at the Eighth Street location (most likely at 3 a.m. in a drunken stupor).

They seem to have also taken a page from Chicken Kitchen and Chipotle’s book by offering heaping bowls of Latin goodness. “Hot Lunatic Bowls” feature a pile of rice doused in La Moon’s salty red beans with two sweet plantain halves.
Top them with anything from grilled chicken ($8) to flap ($9) or skirt steak ($10.50) and shredded pork ($7.50). The best move, however, is to go for a bandeja paisa bowl ($11) topped with chicharrones, smoked sausage, skirt steak, a fried egg, avocado, and an arepa.
If you’ve got a friend with you, order the picada ($17). It’s the whole bandeja paisa plus shredded pork, two beef patties, and yellow potatoes. Only problem is this La Moon doesn’t offer weekend or late-night hours of the Brickell location. Guess you’ll have to call out of work for day drinking. No complaints here.
