Rummies rejoice! This weekend marks the Miami Rum Renaissance Festival, a five-day celebration of the sweet and sexy liquor. While some events are by VIP invitation only, on Saturday, May 8, the Raleigh Hotel is hosting an open to the public rum exhibition. The Grand Rum Tasting will feature rums from all over the Caribbean, with brands such as Abuelo, Appleton, Bacardi, Caldas, Cartavio, Chairman’s Reserve, Cruzan, Don Q, Leblon, Ocumare, Palo Viejo, Plantation, Pussers, Santa Teresa, Tommy Bahama, Vizcaya, Zacapa, Zaya and many more. Tickets to the Grand Rum Tasting are $65 per person. The event runs from 3 to 8 p.m., out by the Raleigh’s Oasis pool.
For $195, rum connoisseurs can buy admission to all of the VIP parties, plus seminars led by experts in the industry. Some of the seminars we are excited about span the history of the daiquiri, discovering rum from Peru and a blind tasting of white rums. Included in this package is a pool party on Sunday with rum cocktails and music. This is a great opportunity to take a weekend off from vodka and explore the spicier world of rum.
