The rock ‘n’ roll Sea Rock seafood restaurant in SoBe’s Sunset Harbour has gone out to sea. Sunk. Kaput.
There are reasons restaurants fail, and it rarely has to do with bad luck. Here was Short Order’s first impression this past October:
Help! My Eardrums Are Bleeding!
Or at least it felt like they were when my wife and I walked into SeaRock Restaurant. This new establishment is located on Bay Road in South Beach, two blocks north of the lively intersection where other newcomers Casale Pizzeria and Burger & Beer Joint are packing them in. SeaRock offers various ceviches and seafood dishes named after rock stars, but at 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night, the music, as I say, was blaring, the room empty, the staff disinterested. Pumping the volume later on for the lounge scene would make sense, but that sort of din is anything but inviting for dinner. We left.
