The annual lull of summer that slows our city has apparently affected even the opening and closing of dining establishments. It’s as though it’s just too damn hot to consider hanging up new signage or taking down old ones. “It can wait” was the theme of September, as only a handful of dining establishments premiered and even fewer shut down.
Two of the most noteworthy newcomers are Harry’s Pizzeria, the Michael Schwartz effort that opened this past week in the former Pizza Volante space; and Open Kitchen, a market/cafe in Bay Harbor Islands partnered by Sandra Stefani of the lamentably late Casa Toscana.
The most highly anticipated restaurant is Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, which actually doesn’t make our list because the official debut is next week — which will place it in our October count. Still, next week is next week.
It looks as though the coming few months will introduce a bevy of new eateries to chew on. Here then is a brief list of recent openings, closings, and what’s on deck. Please feel free to let us know about those we may have missed.
