It’s a fact. Most nights spent dancing and partying wind down in the local diner or coffee shop. Over some soggy fries and a tepid greaseburger, you wish that there was some place open where you could get some stone crab claws … or Peking duck … or wood-oven pizza … or an authentic Philly cheese steak.

Last evening’s The Best Thing I Ever Ate Late Night Bites & Sweets provided just that. Thirty-one different stations served up the food you wish you could get your hands on after an evening spent out on the town.

The festival party tents were transformed into a ’50s-style diner, complete with pink neon and Al Hirschfeld-style caricatures of Food Network celebrities on the walls, as partiers danced to a live band playing the best of Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, and Madonna.

We’re sure someone other than us termed the event a stoner’s fantasyland (though we’re sure Food Network wouldn’t approve of the name), because we’re not sure where else you could eat your way through guacamole from Rosa Mexicano, Philly Cheesesteaks from Phil’s Tavern, a sundae from Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, chili dogs from Sonic, stone crabs from George’s Stone Crab, and calamari from Zuma .. other than on some drug-induced trip or really, really vivid dream.
