Want to take a stab at possible food poisoning at home? Then why not learn how to make fresh sushi at home?
Lincoln Road restaurant SushiSamba dromo has brought back its monthly Sushi & Sake 101 classes, taught with the help of executive sushi chef Shoyo Iida. According to the press release, “Students can gain insider sushi-making tips with Sushi Chef Iida’s history lesson on sushi and an in-depth instruction on the selecting and cutting of raw fish.” Raw? Cutting? Instruction? Sounds awesome! And yes, it’s hands on.
But sushi isn’t the only thing you’ll learn. The class will also introduce you to the restaurant’s new sake sommelier (er, doesn’t that only refer to wine?) Midori Roth. In case you didn’t know, SushiSamba boasts South Florida’s largest sake menu, with nearly 50 different varieties. Roth will lead students through the history and tradition of the spirit, as well as introduce the different varieties available at the restaurant and how to pair them with meals.
The classes are schedule for the second Wednesday of every month, with two classes available at 7 and 9 p.m. The two-hour class comes at a $75 price (which doesn’t include tax or gratuity). Upcoming schedule dates include August 13, September 10, October 8 and November 12.
