Like pumpkin is to fall, eggnog is to winter. The rich, traditional Christmas treat is everywhere for the next couple weeks. But for non-dairy drinkers, the cream and eggs mean it’s out of the question.

TCBY, however, has a vegan alternative. Almond Nog Fro-Yo is now available in select stores, and it’s everything you’d want in a healthier holiday treat.

We tried it, and it’s spot on with the sweet, tangy taste you expect from a holiday nog. It’s very sweet and surprisingly rich for a non-dairy froyo.

Made with Silk almond milk, it’s dairy-free, gluten-free and has 110 calories in a 4 ounce serving. This isn’t TCBY’s first vegan option. They also offer Silk coconut, Silk chocolate almond and Silk vanilla almond.

All in all, the almond nog is worth a try, even if for omnivores. Because real eggnog packs on the pounds — and who needs extra padding in a tropical climate?

The almond nog fro-yo is available at select locations, so call ahead before you go looking for it. We tried it at the TCBY in Mary Brickell Village, 900 South Miami Avenue #147.
