Michael Schwartz’s the Cypress Room will begin serving lunch July 15. At the fine-dining Design District establishment, daytime prices will be significantly more affordable than those in the evening.
The restaurant, which opened in late March, serves filet mignon with butter-braised potatoes for $49 and antelope with baby turnips for $46 for dinner. The lunch menu, however, will feature dishes that are nearly half those prices.
Many dishes are borrowed from the dinner service but get a deduction in price. Marrow bones with preserved lemon, celery, and garlic toast are offered for $19 at night, but a single bone costs $14 for lunch. The Cypress burger, with onion marmalade, costs $24 when the sun goes down but only $16 during the day.
The restaurant’s lunch menu will also include a lobster sandwich with celery, avocado, and heirloom tomatoes ($24), a vegetable entrée with roasted squash and wild rice pilaf ($19), and an 18-ounce dry-aged rib eye ($65) for two.

Chef de cuisine Roel Alcudia’s lunch menu features new appetizers too, such as melon salad with speck, wild greens, and herbs ($13) and soup of the day ($9).
In addition, the Cypress Room will offer a lunch prix fixe of three courses for $36, which will be available with wine pairings for $57.
So those who have been curious about Michael Schwartz’s fourth restaurant — but can’t afford evening prices — can soon visit and get a less expensive taste during the day.
The Cypress Room will open for lunch beginning July 15, weekdays from noon to 2:30 p.m.
