Chef Ze Carlos Jimenez’s The MexZican Gourmet has opened today in South Miami.
The restaurant features an expanded menu of chef Jimenez’s authentic Mexican cuisine, using flavors and dishes from his hometown just outside of Mexico City.
Chef Jimenez’s “simply authentic” menu will please his food truck devotees with favorites like tacos, tostadas, and quesidillas, but the restaurant allows the chef to expand his horizons to larger, more complicated dishes like Cochinita Pibil (Yucatan style pork with achiote, orange and Mexican herbs), Chamorro (pork shank and chile pasilla with roasted tomato sauce), Huachinango (grilled red snapper with cilantro pesto and nopalitos salad), and Tampiquena con Camarones (thinly sliced and grilled beef tenderlion and shrimp with wild mushroomed wine and chipotle sauce).

MexZican Gourmet is open for dinner only this week, but will start
serving lunch next week. For now hours are Monday thru Thursday from 5 to 10
p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. Free valet parking is provided.
