While you’re undoubtedly stoked about today’s kickoff of the annual bacchanalia known as the South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SoBeWFF), you’re probably less excited about the logistics. Namely, parking.
Unless you live in South Beach, parking for the fest can be a nightmare. But no worries. We’re SoBeWFF vets here at Short Order, so we’ve rounded up some suggestions for dealing with the automobile apocalypse.

Municipal Garages
Your best bet by far is the municipal parking. Prices WILL NOT, we repeat, WILL NOT, be jacked up for the festival. The rates will remain the same. These garages operate on an hourly basis, and most switch over at 8 or 9 p.m. to a flat rate. The hourly rate is $1 per hour for most garages, and the flat rate switches to $15 or $20 depending on the location.

The Grand Tasting Village is set up at 13th Street and Ocean Drive, so that’s the fest’s home base. Many of the seminars are taking place at the Shelborne (1801 Collins Ave.), but the following garages are all within walking distance of the main venues (leave the four-inch stilettos at home).
Seventh Street and Collins Avenue Garage – 646 spaces
$1 per hour up to 15 hours, and a max daily rate of $20 for 15 to 24 hours.
Weekend evening rate: $15 per vehicle Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
12th Street and Drexel Avenue Garage – 134 spaces
$1 per hour up to 15 hours, and a max daily rate of $20 for 15 to 24 hours.
Weekend evening rate: $15 per vehicle Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
13th Street and Collins Avenue Garage – 286 spaces
$1 per hour or any portion thereof up to 15, and a maximum daily rate of $20 for 15 to 24 hours.
Weekend evening rate: $15 per vehicle Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Pennsylvania Avenue Garage (17th Street, 550 spaces), City Hall Garage (18th Street and Meridian Avenue, 650 spaces), and 17th Street Garage (1,460 spaces)
Regular rates run approximately $1 per hour (varies a little when you hit six hours). Special event flat rate runs $15.
Residential Parking
If you have a friend who lives in South Beach, now is the time to call in a favor. A residential parking pass will snag you a spot three or four blocks west of the beach, but isn’t that worth avoiding garage congestion and price gouging?
Our advice: Get there early. Be prepared. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Anyone running late will likely be forced to park in a private lot for a price that’ll get your blood boiling. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
