There are actually more beach-themed bars that play Jimmy Buffet and Bob Marley in Manhattan than in Miami. Which is a sincere shame because sometimes you just want to put on your best flip flops, drink a rum punch, and enjoy the warm sun and salt-tinged breezes.
Parrotheads rejoice, because Whiskey Joe’s is coming to Key Biscayne July of this year. The Tampa-based bar and grill is opening a Key Biscayne location at Rickenbacker Marina, at the former Rickenbacker Fish Company site.
This beach-shack-on-steroids will feature dockside drinking and dining on an outdoor patio that seats 300, a giant tiki hut, live music, and lots of reggae music.

BBQ pulled pork, blackened fish, or crabcake ($10.99 for four).
Gator
bites ($10.99), beer cheese soup ($4.99 and $6.99), and shrimp and crab
mac ‘n cheese ($18.99) all stand out as stuff that goes with a tall rum punch.
In addition, Whiskey
Joe’s will feature a raw bar, extensive beer selection, and tropical
drinks served in coconut monkeys. When was the last time you drank out
of a coconut monkey?
We’re frankly looking forward to a place
where the dress code consists of Havianas and a tiki shirt. Because
sometimes your lunch should come with a side of SPF 50 and a beer
koozie.
