loverboy-next-door or a dude amped up by Gosling’s stoic skull-cracking
badassery, the one thing both sexes can agree on is the sheer awesomeness of
the film’s soundtrack.
Moody, ethereal synth tuneage from indie electronic
acts like Kavinsky, College, Electric Youth, and Anoraak imbued Drive with a
special neo-noir atmosphere that lifted it above Hollywood B-movie standards and into art-house territory.
One of the soundtrack standouts, for instance, is “A
Real Hero,” a collaboration between French producer College (AKA David
Grellier) and Toronto duo Electric Youth. Both acts are renowned for their retro-electro
sound, imbuing cinematic ’80s synth arrangements with propulsive modern
dancefloor grooves.

with Anoraak on Tuesday, August 14, when they stop by Grand Central in support of the Drive Tour.
RyGos may or may not make an appearance in a silver scorpion jacket.
