There’s a time to every purpose under Heaven, and 7:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on September 16 is the moment for Miamians to take part in a simultaneous prayer for peace with earthlings in 250 communities throughout 50 countries. Earthdance’s mission is to make music and dance the channel through which people come together to empower the world’s most vulnerable. The multifaceted prayer focuses on issues such as urban youth, the environment, indigenous peoples, international relief and development, and alternatives to war. Miami’s lineup includes DJ Le Spam, Suenalo Sound System, and Agape. Nadia Harris’s first music video, “Peace = Solution,” a polemic about race and religion, will make an international debut just after the official prayer comes to a close. Miami will be among five Earthdance locations hosting a live broadcast of the ceremony. — Julienne Gage
