Organizers of the second annual Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas declared the three-day party a success , despite high-winds that cut its marquee night short on Saturday.
Promoters say a whopping 115,000 people were in attendance on Sunday, the final night of the fest, which saw performances by David Guetta, Avicii, Dirty South, Chuckie, Morgan Page, John Digweed, Armin Van Buuren, and more.
On Saturday promoters cut off the performances at 12:45 a.m. as high winds buffeted the towering stages at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
One festival worker told us there were more than 100,000 people at the venue that night. But promoters put the official number at 90,000. Fans who were waiting in line were even turned away after the big stages were shut down.
After last year’s booming, three-day crowd count of more than 215,000 people, organizers claimed they sold 300,000 three-day tickets for the weekend event, a number that rivals or beats the huge weekend crowds at Coachella, the nation’s premier music fest.
The main stage at EDC, we were told, is the biggest such concert platform in North America.
Promoters said, in part:
The final night of the 16th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival came to a close with 115,000 fans dancing beneath the desert sky at the fully transformed Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Truly a 360-degree carnival experience, the evening featured extended pyrotechnics displays on each stage, an additional fireworks show, impromptu theatrical performances throughout the crowd and a full evening of world-class music.
