So it’s been a week since the whole Fiascogate situation that took place at last week’s VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, where Lupe Fiasco forgot two bars to A Tribe Called Quest’s “Electric Relaxation” during a tribute to the group. I remember hearing him fumble the verse, but didn’t think too much of it. It happens. Instead of chalking it up to an accident, Lupe admitted that, amazingly, he’d never listened to A Tribe Called Quest in his life and never really cared to. Wow. As a rapper with such a penchant for positive lyrics and respecting the industry, a lot of people were surprised at that comment. He later backed it up and said that MC Hammer was more relevant to hip-hop than A Tribe Called Quest.
I’m not sure which comment is worse.
Since then, the internet has been abuzz with disses on Lupe…and for good reason. Doesn’t need to last forever. But if you can’t even dig a group like A Tribe Called Quest, then don’t perform their song on TV…especially when you don’t know the words!!

Lupe went on record to try and explain himself.
Q-Tip shot back with his comments.
And the whole thing is finally dying down with Lupe getting a good lesson hopefully.
Of course, Lupe has an album coming out soon and this is all just publicity one way or the other.
He’s got a killer new video out that should make everybody forget about Fiascogate instantly. Dude is still one of the few cats in the industry that talks about SOMETHING REAL and this video is a perfect example
