The blending of genres and melding of styles is becoming as commonplace in popular modern music as cocaine lines next to grapefruit juice at Lindsey Lohan’s breakfast table. The whole world, including the biggest stars in any genre you can name, has been dabbling with mezcla of late. But just because it seems every ex-actor-slash-singer and her mom has been trying it, doesn’t mean everyone should.
For an example of fusion done right, one need look no further than Miami’s very own Bachaco, proof positive of a local scene that’s been mixing and matching musical goods for quite some time now.
With backgrounds as diverse as the myriad styles used to create their one-of-a-kind grooves, the members of this eight-piece ensemble kick out reggae, dancehall, cumbia, hip-hop, and more in an all-out onstage assault that always leaves the crowd trying to keep up.

“It’s just the chemistry between all of us on stage,” says vocalist Eddy Morillo. “We truly connect with each other. We enjoy it and at the same time, we [provide] feedback to the audience’s response. We vibe along with our audience.”
