In 1992 the city of Los Angeles was besieged by thousands of rioters lashing out angrily against the verdict of the racially-charged Rodney King case. 15 years later, Southern Californian DJ/producers Daniel LeDisko and Jon Pegnato would, with no shortage of irony, dub themselves L.A. Riots in homage of this calamitous event and the soundtrack to a dancefloor riot that is their brash and boisterous amalgamation of fidget house, new electro and breaks.
The turn of the decade has seen the duo rise from the dull drone of the blogosphere and onto the international charts by virtue of a hectic touring schedule and prolific series of remixes for the likes of Justice, Hot Chip, Chromeo and Tiësto on touchstone indie dance labels like Ed Banger, Dim Mak, and Fool’s Gold. L.A. Riots will be bringing their banging electro-laced dance grooves to Mansion on Wednesday night, along with DJs Damaged Goods and Konflikt.
L.A. Riots. Wednesday, July 28. Mansion. 1235 Washington Ave.,
Miami Beach. Doors open at 11 p.m., tickets cost $20 in advance from wantickets.com. Ages 21+ with ID.
