Okay, I’ll admit: I like Louis — a lot. It completely goes everything I believe a nightclub should be (drinks are too expensive and the door policy is frustrating), but dammit it’s an awesome venue! It’s cavernous, the lighting is crazy and the bookings at times are unbelievable. I spent a lot of time at the place during Winter Music Conference, and it was then that I realized how much I enjoyed it.
So am I excited that Sam Baum and Alexis Mincolla — under their Overthrow moniker — along with Damaged Goods (AKA Obi Tawil) are rebooting the Misfit party? Fuck yea! Overthrow (along with Poplife) have already done wonders Wednesday nights at LIV’s Dirty Hairy party and Mincolla’s Black Sunday massacre at Bella Rose is still the talk of the town.
The night, which had a short-lived stint at Studio A, promises to resurrect the weekend, and considering Overthrow’s pass success they might just be able to pull it off. We are just relieved that this summer, which surely will bring the death of many nightclubs (as is customary every time around this time of year), there might be one party to keep things in high gear.
