If Berlin is the world capital of techno, then Steve Bug might very well be its commander-in-chief.

The celebrated DJ-producer has been at the forefront of the German uhntz-uhntz scene since the wall came down. A prolific and versatile producer, Bug’s discography speaks for itself.

But he’s probably been most influential as A&R magnate and head honcho of the world-renowned Poker Flat, Audiomatique, and Dessous imprints.

“Dessous stands for classic house and deep house, Poker Flat stands for techy house with reminiscing early Detroit and Chicago house and techno, and Audiomatique stands for all kinds of modern tech-house and techno,” Bug told Crossfade back in 2010.

Indeed, the labels cover the full spectrum of four-on-the-floor electronic sounds. And with star-studded artist rosters including international luminaries like Phonique, Alex Niggemann, and Adultnapper, the labels are mainstays on the charts.

So consider it a given that Steve Bug’s record selections at the Electric Pickle on Saturday will include the crème de la crème of underground transtlantic house and techno.
