Shredding hard and stalking America’s highways since 1978, SoCal punk crew Social Distortion has survived several lifetimes of hard living.
Lesser punks than SxDx frontman and founder Mike Ness would’ve fallen down, folded, and rolled over into the gutter by now. But 33 years later, the man’s still going strong.
He’s raged on, outlasting generations of punk, rock, and alt, beating a heroin habit, and watching friends and bandmates die (like bassist Dennis Danell RIP) while somehow keeping Social D together.
Now if you want a real record of Ness’s durability, just let the ragged rumble of Social Distortion’s newest album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, tell the tale. Or, if you weren’t there for last Fall’s raucous set on the Beach, go hear the story firsthand when he and his band return to the Fillmore Miami Beach November 4.
