But aside from his burgeoning acting career and social activism, he was a symbol of overcoming hardships for many, and his introspective songs about growing up in ghettos and racism really struck a chord and changed lives.
Despite his well-known conflicts with other rappers and the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry, Shakur managed to make a name for himself and went on to be a top-selling artist.
