A recently released Congresisonal Quarterly Press analysis of crime stats lists Miami-Dade County as the 10th most dangerous metro area in the nation. We’re behind Detroit (number one), Las Vegas (number three) and Little Rock (number nine).

Locally, Miami Gardens is the most dangerous city in South Florida, coming in at 26th on the list of dangerous cities.

Overall, though, South Florida’s crime doesn’t hold a candle to one other Florida city: Orlando, the home of Mickey Mouse, is the eleventh most dangerous city in the nation, and the worst in Florida.

Then again, who knows what these numbers mean or if they are even correct. After all, the statistics all come from the FBI’s — who gets the stats from the local police agencies. And agencies wouldn’t cook the books on crime stats to make a city look safer, would they? Naaah. Oh, wait. The FDLE is actually conducting an investigation right now into whether Miami officers have whitewashed statistics at the behest of police brass.
