Miami police busted a couple of dozen burglars yesterday, including one dude who had 59 — yes, fifty-nine — prior arrests.
Lt. Orestes Chavez, one of the commanders who led the so-called Operation B.R.A.A.T. (Burglary, Robbery, Auto Theft Apprehension Team, gotta love the acronym), said that they took down Donald Thomas on his 40th burglary charge, and his 60th lifetime arrest. “We got a lotta bad people this time,” said Chavez. Another alleged criminal is also behind bars: Archibald Scott, who was nabbed for breaking into 1111 Brickell Bay Drive. He had 20 prior arrests, Chavez said, many of them burglaries of occupied homes.
Chavez added that a few people turned themselves in when they found out police were looking for them. “They had heard that we had gone by their homes,” he chuckled. — Tamara Lush
