Blow wind, blow!
At approximately noon today, a tornado spilled onto Biscayne Boulevard at NE 28th Street. There were a dozen City of Miami cop cars, two Florida Highway Patrol cruisers, a pair of K-9 patrols and a helicopter.
They were chasing a suspect who had slipped away from officers in Allapattah and Overtown during and exercise of the City’s new “Operation Tornado,” which involve weekly quality-of-life sweeps, according to spokesman Delrish Moss.

The suspect assaulted an officer and fled east.
Cops blocked off 26th through 29th streets east of Biscayne Boulevard, where many buildings are boarded up, for about two hours. They posted a cop on each corner, sent in the dogs, and called out the whirly bird.
Finally they left empty-handed.
So, in the future, if you see too many City of Miami Cops around, don’t worry. It’s just another tornado day.
