For the second day in a row Wednesday, the Cuban government cracked down on protesters, this time punching and dragging several members of the Women in White denouncing the treatment of dissidents, one of whom died after a hunger strike last month, the Herald reported.
The mother of Orlando Zapata Tamayo, who died February 23 after an 86-day hunger strike, was hospitalized. She is a member of the Women in White, who are relatives of jailed dissidents.
The protests come after dissident journalist Guillermo Farinas was hospitalized after embarking on a hunger strike to protest Zapata’s death. Other hunger strikers have lined up willing to take their lives to protest the Castro brother’s oppressive totalitarian regime.
Castro’s treatment of the hunger strikers and protestorss have been condemned by European nations.
