Despite the fact that some NFL brass have indicated there would have to be major upgrades to Sun Life Stadium if Miami-Dade ever wants to host another Super Bowl, the Dolphins are planing to spearhead a Miami bid for the next available championship game anyway. Super Bowl L, the 50th anniversary of the big game, won’t be held until 2016, but the location could be decided as soon as this May.
According to the Sporting News, the Dolphins will go ahead with pitching Miami despite long odds.

“We have to go with the facilities we have,” Mike Dee told the site.
“Dallas will bid, New Orleans, you got the new facility in San Francisco, Tampa two years in a row just fell short,” Dee said when asked about other who might bid. “Competition has never been greater.”
And the Dolphins are at a definite disadvantage despite being the most regular host throughout the Super Bowl’s history.
Back in 2009, Frank Supovitz, an NFL VP, told the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce that there would have to be serious upgrades to the stadium before it was awarded another Super Bowl. In particular the league wanted the stadium to have a roof.
