Don’t let it come to this, people
Ever been told you have an uncanny knack for picking up trash? Now’s your chance to put your talents to good use and join the thousands of volunteers expected to gather at coastlines worldwide tomorrow in celebration of the 22nd Annual International Coastal Cleanup. Sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy, this global event unites folks of all ages to do something good for the environment by eliminating debris that injures wildlife, contaminates beaches and waterways, and threatens boater safety.
And Miami-Dade is looking for volunteers. So, if you nothing else to do between 9:00 a.m. and noon why not lend a helping hand? Last year more than 1,700 volunteers picked up a staggering 8,200 pounds of debris sprucing up almost 28 miles of coastline. And it’s not all work — volunteers are all invited to attend an after party at Miami Seaquarium.
