New Times obtained this e-mail sent from the Miami Herald Publishing Company to its employees:

“For this year’s Annual Meeting video, all MHPC employees are invited to participate in a group shot scheduled for Tuesday, January 18 from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. We will be closing off NE 14th Street and will have a video crew on hand as a choreographer leads everyone in a few very simple hip-hop dance moves. Your participation is important, as we’d like to get as many people as possible in this shot. As always, break-out performances are encouraged and appreciated.”

Passing by the scene at the appointed time yielded the sighting of an enthusiastic dance instructor on a flatbed truck coaching the small crowd through Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing.” No luck catching publisher Alberto Ibargüen doing a thugged-out two-step, or Carl Hiaasen rocking the all-the-way-to-the-bank bounce. But we did find executive editor Tom Fiedler in the back row executing a very effective pigeon-wing movement.
