LeBron James had plans to bring his acting talents to South Beach long before he made plans to bring his basketball talents here. According to a report from Variety, just days before LeBron made his fateful “decision,” he had plans to star in a movie called Ballers that would have shot in Miami last summer (interesting), but put them on hold. Well, now according to E!, his big screen debut is back on.
E! doesn’t have many details, but the acting won’t be much of a stretch for James. He’d play an NBA superstar.
The project is being put together by superstar producer Brian Grazer, and his reps say they’re hoping to start shooting this summer. Reps for James didn’t return E!’s calls.
James has dabbled his toes in acting with a stint hosting SNL, several commercials, and an upcoming animated web show for kids. Though this will be his first major role in a dramatic film.

Exclusive, made-up Riptide box office analysis show that the film is expected to sell out in Miami during the opening weekend (though the theaters won’t be completely full until about 20 minutes in).
Meanwhile, tickets in the Chicago, Boston, and New York are expected to be strong so fans can boo and claim that movies about their teams or starring past and present players (namely: Space Jam, Kazaam, and Whoopie Goldberg’s Eddie) are better. Any theater showing the movie in Cleveland is expected to be burnt to the ground.
