Logan Morrison played his entire major league career with the Miami Marlins before being traded to the Seattle Mariners this past December. He published what seemed like a heart-felt open letter to Miamians upon his departure, but apparently his view of the city wasn’t all that positive. He was on a Seattle sports talk radio station yesterday and complained of the smell of downtown Miami and poked fun at the Marlins’ attendance woes.

Morrison was on KJR’s Mitch in the Morning show when host Mitch Levy asked him if he looked forward to living in Seattle for the summer.

“I’ve been up to Seattle a few times and it’s beautiful,” replied Morrison. “I love the cleanliness of a downtown. You know Miami’s not exactly the cleanest downtown. It kinda smells like moldy people and… yeah it’s hot, moist, and Seattle’s awesome.”

“I’m looking forward to playing up there and just getting a feel from the fans and the people up there,” he continued. “Looking forward to having some crowd there. That should be cool.”

That last bit was undoubtedly a bit of shade at Miami’s low attendance numbers, which is sort of ironic. Miami’s attendance numbers may have been 29th out of 30 in the league, but Seattle’s crowds aren’t exactly much to be proud of either. They came in 25th in attendance last season, while attracting roughly just over 2,000 more fans per game.

You can listen to the interview here. The remarks about Miami start at about the 8:45 mark.

LoMo did however add, in case you were wondering, that he never got any flack for his Twitter antics from the Marlins organization but rather straight from the MLB.
