This week, we have a New Times premiere: our very first interactive cover! This isn’t quite the magnitude of Esquire’s E Ink cover, but it’s pretty awesome if you are bored or just wanted to annoy someone.

The homemade plane is a tie-in to this week’s feature story by staff writer Michael E. Miller, who held on for dear life as he soared above Miami in a self-built aircraft.
Owing to frequent crashes, these homemade planes are now on the radar of federal investigators, who are conducting a multimillion-dollar, yearlong study of the wrecks to see if there’s a bigger, underlying problem: a lack of regulation and oversight.
