Luis Alfonso Lucero, a nurse technician at Kendall Regional Medical Center, was arrested yesterday on charges that he raped an unconscious female patient. Lucero claims that the intercourse was consensual, even though the patient was under his care and was checked into the hospital for serious alcohol intoxication.
The incident occurred on August 2. The victim is an unnamed 45-year-old woman.
According to The Miami Herald, Lucero had a phone conversation with the woman in which admitted to having sex with her while she was hospitalized, but told police that it was consensual sex.
He now faces on count of sexual battery, but bonded out of jail earlier today. Kendall Regional Medical Center has not yet commented publicly on the case.
