Apparently when you win two championships in a row you can hold training camp in a place that usually caters to people looking to relax and party rather than, you know, train.
Yep, the Miami Heat will be holding their training camp at the fancy, almost theme park-like Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas.
Several NBA teams regularly hold training camps outside of the country, but this is the first time the Heat are even traveling outside of the state. It’s also a far cry from their 2010 training camp held in a military base in the Panhandle.
According to ESPN, the team will practice twice a day in a ballroom for “several days.” We just hope that the resort’s amenities don’t distract them too much at night. Seriously, Atlantis has some crazy stuff including a mile-long lazy river, a bunch of water slides hidden in a faux-Mayan temple, a clear acrylic tunnel that runs underneath a shark tank, dolphin experiences, full-service casino, three nightclubs, concert stage, and a Nobu outpost.
