The Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team wrapped up their extraordinary week with a 71-47 drubbing of Florida State last night to remain undefeated in the ACC. Taken with their historic win over Duke on Wednesday, the ‘Canes were rewarded handsomely in both the AP and USA Today Coaches’ polls.

The Hurricanes moved up 11 spots this week in the AP Poll to number 14. The team was ranked 25th last week, the first time they had been included in the poll all season.
Update: Here’s a breakdown on where Miami stands on individual ballots. As you can see, most voters actually have them ranked higher than 14th, with one ranking the team as high as 5th.

Though receiving votes, the Hurricanes had not cracked the Coach’s poll this season. Last week they would have been the equivalent of number 26. This week the team makes a stunning debut at number 15. It’s the first time the Hurricanes have been ranked in the Coach’s poll since December 8, 2008 when they spent a single week at number 25.

Though Duke obviously found themselves knocked off the top spot in both polls thanks to their defeat in Coral Gables, the Blue Devils weren’t punished too harshly. They’re now stand at number 5 in both polls.

The Canes will try to remain perfect in the ACC while traveling to Virginia Tech on Wednesday. On Saturday they travel to NC State, the only other team in the ACC besides Miami and Duke that is currently ranked.
