University of Miami Hurricanes’ head football coach Al Golden expects to have an answer on whether eight players deemed ineligible will be reinstated by the NCAA in the next 48 hours. And it’s just in time. The season is a week away.
“We expect, hopefully, in the next 48 hours,” Golden said on The Joe Rose show on WQAM this morning. “We can’t guarantee that but we expect it in the next 48 hours, which is fine … The NCAA is the only institution that can deem these guys eligible and they may have some follow-up questions. We’ll find out early today.”
Eight players, including quarterback Jacory Harris and Sean Spence had been deemed ineligible as a precautionary measure by the school. If the players are reinstated, then the ‘Canes will not be forced to vacate any future wins racked up while those players are on the field.
The names of the six other players have not been confirmed.

However, even if Harris, is reinstated there’s no guarantee he’ll start. He’s been locked in a QB battle with Stephen Morris since last season.
